Question first grow, first look, lots of questions

    Hey mates,

I'm new to growing and this community. So, hello

I'm thinking of starting a grow diary to provide detailed background information. But I do not know yet because my time is somewhat limited.
But since I already started I hope you can help me with first questions...

So my setup is a Homebox S (80x80x160), 250W HPS, growing in coco-perlite-mix. Four different straints (all autos).
Started to germinate in eazy plugs directly in coco on friday. All four sprouted in the night to monday. Provided nothing than ph-ed tap water yet (set for 24h). If rh is too low I use foliar spray with same water and a bit horsetail to provide silicone.

Temps are 26-28 C lights on and 21 C lights off. RH is now ~50%. Bulb is one foot away from plants.

So, I don't know if it is okay but it looks like they are stretching much to the light. (Thats why I moved the light that close)
Is the 250W HPS enough or is it to weak?

Also one of the plants has three cotyledons and also leaves. I found mixed information about that so I don't know how to name it correctly... I think its a mutation!?
Should I do something about that?

Hello ransa, you can top up the pots with more coco to support the stretching stems. For light height you can do a simple test by placing your hand in between the plant tops and the bulb.. If it is hot on your hand it's too hot for the plants. Adjust the height until it's comfortable on the back of your hand.

The mutated plant should be ok as it grows the next set of leaves

Thanks for this. Sometimes its the simple things you don't realize. I topped the pots up.

    Keep watching the mutated plant.

As @Blue said use the hand test. Don't be tempted to move the lamp too close, last thing you want is to burn them! I know they look like they are stretching but they are doing fine for their age. Just give them a chance to get going!

    Default Update 2 Weeks Autos

Hey guys, this is a short update with few more questions:

All four plants are 2 weeks old now. As advised I have topped up the pots.

    Temp: 26-27C on, 19-20 off
    Hr: 40-50%

I water every second day. PH ranges from 5.8 to 6.2 (I only have an indicator, so I have no absolute numbers)
All I added to the water is horsetail for silicone.
Sprayed once a day with a bit horsetail.
    With last watering I added 50% canna A and B (20ml / 10L)

My plan is to continue with tap water and every other watering with canna A+B (slowly raise to 100%) with 10-20% runoff.

Now my concerns: Comparing with diaries here I think they are a bitt small (only almost 3 nodes)
Also some leaves have some white signs or edges (maybe thats just residues from foliar feed?)
I'm wondering if I should start LST, because there are only 3 nodes (3rd in most cases just started)
(For topping there are to small anyway)

Ok, here are the pictures, hope you can advise me

ransaisch you have no EC or PH pen? These are essential tools when growing in coco. Can you tell me was the 20ml of A & B the total or of each?

thanks for the quick answer. I used 20ml of each. So 40ml in bit more than 10L total. (It says 40ml of each for 100%)

    I'm following this guide:
    http://www.growweedeasy.com/250w-hps-beginner-tutorial

Thats why I thought it's ok to just measure the PH.

hey bud just start by saying welcome to the site you will find many here are happy to help and there are some real good threads on growing in coco and im using it myself and have found it the best to grow in (apart from dwc systems) to start id say they look like they need a feed but apart from that they look nice the white tips could be the spray on the leaves

seen as you are growing the auto plants do not top the as they do not have the time to recover and this could impact the end yield in a negative way or just stunt the growth of the plant altogether , as far as LST is concerned id let the nodes grow out abit before you start you should be good to start this when the 5th node has grown out a bit this allows the stems on the nodes to be more flexibly and stronger to handle LST

but all in good effort for a first grow bud ill pull up a chair and help if i can GL and happy growing

thanks mate! after this post I'm more optimistic

I skip next tap watering and go with a 50% feed again.
I will watch closely for any transition to good or bad and it seems I need bit more patience. I will wait for the 5th nodes as you said.
Furthermore I will save for an EC pen.

    best, ransa
