I have to own up here guys a few years ago I worked for a PC repair shop and we had laptops/PC's that just couldn't be fixed due to moisture getting in
Or just cost too much for repair for whatever reason .
any way I was putting a tower PC in skip and boss says wtf are you doing " take it to auction some sucker will buy it " and they did and still do
Felt guilty at the time but that feeling past came payday

Are you trying to fire up the copy of windows already installed on the hard drive? If so, that is probably the issue...

Boot off your windows cd, delete all patitions & install windows on the freshly wiped hard drive

Windows boot CD will give you an option for a fresh install and wiping partitions

When you get to this bit

It should show your drive... & you'll be able to delete all the partitions from there

If its restarting on you. It doesnt matter how hot on the outside. It could evan be the sensor thats doing it or the heatsink fan. Basicly cpu protect them selfs from going over a threshold (80c) i think, by shutting down your system immidiatly to stop the cpu from burning out. Also set your priority to the hdd your using. If it was anything else you would get a bleep code error or it would say on startup.
