N is needed to some degree at all points of any plants life. It's used to produce flowering hormones so without it flowering would not even happen. As it's a very mobile nutrient a plant will use stores from lower, shaded, leaves but it's still present in all flowering base Nutes.

I know that, that's why clones go yellow if you don't foliar feed when rooting them, because while it try to grow/root it will pull the nutrients from the leaves.

me personally dont flush for couple days. if it coco for example jus flush 3 x potsize with plain water which be done in hour or so. then just proceed with much lower feed.

not sure how the dwc chaps do it. i would think res change with much lower dose nutes and keep eye on the ec for any leeching incase plant spittin it back out

Hey mate really noob question but what do you mean by leeching? Like as in ec rising and only water being drunk?

If the roots of the plant contain a higher Ec of nutrients than the water they are in then the nutrients will leach out in order to try and even out between roots and wAter.

Technical term is osmosis buddy but it's referred to as leaching in grows.
