Default Answered: Turning light down to 400w

I'm wondering if I turn my 600w HPS bulb down to 400w using the dimmable ballast I've got, will it save me money of electricity or will the ballast still pull the same amount of electric? Maybe a noob question but electrics ain't my strong point haha

Cool, thanks for the response. Might test out the difference in cost between 400 and 600 cuz I'm on a prepayment meter so have to top up whenever it runs out and according to my flatmate it's "tanking the electric" 😂 I do have a suspicion the cooker we just got is playing a part in the electric usage too cuz beforehand we were using a microwave oven hybrid. Could be totally wrong but it's hard to tell considering I started the grow around the same time we got the cooker

Ahh yeah, all you can do it play with the watts and temps inside home. Your country handles power differently than mine so I ain't too sure pal.

if you know how much you pay per kw for your electric you can work out how much it costs to run your lights.

Hey joker, I'm gonna try figure out how much the light uses tomorrow. I'll report back.
Im wondering, is 27-28c too high? With tent closed on 600w that's around what I'm getting, sometimes higher.

I only ever turn down lamp, when high temp dictates so. I also run on pre paid meter, it costs me roughly £3-£5 a week Extra on top of week elec budget to run one 400 w,two fans. Hope helps.
