You can also move your extraction fan lower so that it pulls the hot air out quicker..... I have mine on a pully cord so I can lower it and raise it with the lights. I sit mine pretty much next to the bulb.

At least that's the free alternatives that might help you
    Cheers for the info.
I will move the therm tonight then when I get home as it has been sat ontop of the pots since the start.
How much would it raise the higher temps having it located in direct light? So I may actually be at the correct temps then ?

I will put the therm on one of the sides above the reflector with the lead and probe coming down to the plant pot top and re check my readings after around 2 hours or so.

I will also add a small oscillating fan at ground level on an upward angle to help the hot air rise up and get extracted.

If the temps are still turd I will get a Lumii AirTube.

I just want to thank everyone for their advice, especially ReeferDankness.

I moved the thermometer out of the direct sunlight and put it about 2 foot above my lighting ballast. I then dropped the probe to soil level to detect a more accurate temperature.
It turns out my temps weren't actually anywhere near as hot as I first thought. Also the humidity reading was wrong, I can only imagine the heat inside the hygrometer was drying up any moisture giving a false reading.

I am getting around 23oC at the 10 inches distance mark, I thought I was getting 31oC at 10 inches yesterday. It is crazy what difference having the hygrometer in direct light can make.
My humidity was around 25-30% RH all the time, now it is around 60% so I am so happy.
Here is an image showing my current temps and humidity.

As the temp was only hitting around 23-24oC and staying stable (20-21oC with oscillating fan on) I have lowered the 250w HPS to 8 inches now and will check what temps I am getting later on.

Thanks everyone. Back to my grow diary I go

Soil/ground level is not the correct temperature measurement point, soil level will be shaded by the canopy, environment temperature is measured at the canopy level.

As your humidity isn't the highest and only a small area you can get a air cooler. I have a larger one knocks a few degrees off in a big room.
