Total darkness lights out during veg ???

I run 18/6 during veg. Is it necessary to have a complete blackout during the lights off period.

The setup I have in my budbox (0-4 weeks from seed) I am going to be struggling due to the ventilation inlet/outlets both being passive, basically vent at the bottom open and the outlet at top open. I will have 2 small fans inside sort of directing the air.

not at all if it does slow the plant down its not noticable

no need for 100% darkness. remember there are stars and moon outside. anyway at some level of darkness plants do not "see" the light.. keep it as close to full darkness, take 2 steps away from your grow room, look at it, can you see anything clearly? if not then you're probably okay..

My way of thinking is during veg some go 100% lights on 24/7. So if it is 90 % dark for 6 hours surely that must be ok.

It is only a budbox Viz for the first 4weeks from seed so hoping odour won't be a problem but thinking of upgrading my cheapo 4" to a decent 6" when I can afford it so may just use that with the filter outside of the tent pulling air through it.

Me too! Once you've managed to stink the house out once it focuses your attention on good extraction & filtration!
