I germinate my seeds & then pop them straight into the coco itself

I made the mistake of trying something fancy with my first go at cloning. I made a small 8 site bubble cloner. I regret that and I wish I had just used the rockwool cubes I intended to use initially. If I had nothing in stock right now, I would probably try the root riot kit once. I'm in an experimental place with my cloning. Once I find something simple like these cubes I'll probably stick with it.

I don't bother with either.. Start in paper towel then onto coco. But if I had to choose it would be the root riots I've found them to be far better than rockwool

I used root riot on my first grow but wouldn't bother with them again, more bother than they were worth. Overnight soak in ph water and right into coco for me next time.

dont do coco but cant be much different in the early satges of germing and then proagating to seedling stage.

i use root-its,same thing as riots etc and i find them very good for bringing on a seedling as you can build up a very sturdy root structure in them, using a root boost, which is always good before putting in the final media,my case soil.

theyre also not prone to mold like the rockwool seems to be.

That is good info for a guy that likes to overwater and spray stuff too much.

I soak mine in water until they sink when tapped, then straight in a little coco pot in a heated propagator.

I reckon I have 95% success with this, it's rare and unusual for them not to pop.

I have good results (near 100% success) with both & i don't pre soak my seeds first.

Root riot cubes don't need a pre soak, but rockwool does (15 seconds in plain water is enough according to grodan)

Then the seed goes in the hole & the cubes go in a propogator in a warm spot (untouched & unopened) for 3 days. On day 3 i'll pop a CFL above the propogator & sit & back for the next 48 hours & watch them surface.

I used to stress about this phase when i firest started, but i know with good seeds & that process it will work every time.
