Default NEW!! DWC + LED + 2 Week Veg HELP PLEASE

    Hey Fam,
    I need you guys.
I'm an old head but new to growing. This is my first grow and this is whats up.

I am using 2x 14 Liter DWC setup under Budmaster II LED's.
I was a week and a half into veg and both plants started getting a little yellow and crispy at the tips. I did some searching...Nute burn right? Noob mistake.
Although I only gave the plants 1/4 of the recommend, I realize i probly should of waited 2 weeks before i started with the nutes. I was just an eager beaver.

Anyway, I replaced all the water with PH6.4 Spring water and i planned on leaving them with that for 4 days to see if it helped.
I'm not really sure if it did, The yellowing and burnt stopped on the bottom leaves and didnt get worse but the leaves above have started to slowly start yellowing from the tip.

puzzled.. I did some more research and thought that my LED may be too close and that the plant was getting too intense light. (They were around 20" from plant) The plants are not too tall either so I figured I could raise the lights a bit and see what happens.

I also thought that maybe the rock wool cubes I originally dipped in water with nutes may still hold some nutes so i flushed the cubed with spring water too.

THEN....I was reading that maybe its a lack of nutes or calmag. Man i dont know.
I was planning on starting a course of nutes and calmag tomorrow given that the plants are 16 days old.

Any help.? I can get pics if interested.

    Thanks in advance.

hi,,am pretty sure ph should be 5.8.also no mention of your EC? which is just as important to get right.

theres a few dwc threads about,in fact theres a section dedicated to it somewhere.

be a few weeks before i start mine ,a dwc wilma, still have couple of soils to finish first n ill check back n see how youre going with this.

    cheers.

DWC is something I know little about but @Jesse Pinkman could add a lot more to the subject...

However, as ggotch points out, there are certain basics to hydro. Two of them being PH & EC

The 'sweet spot' for PH is 5.8, but can fluctuate around a little for better nutrient take up. This chart explains this a little better:-

EC is Electrical Conductivity - we measure the conductivity of the salts in the solution that we have, to understand how strong or weak the feed is
It's Not What You Know, It's What You Can Prove

Hi ggotch, thanks for getting back to me.
Yeah, I made sure the ph was around 5.8-6.0 while i had nutes in but because of what i thought was burn i didnt think it was a good idea to add anything to the spring water(ph 6.4) while it was in. (in hindsight maybe i should of ph'd down)
i'm back to using nutes and the ph is around 5.9.
Thanks for mentioning EC brother, it's something i looked into but i guess i didnt give it as as much importance as i should of.
It's something i will sort out over the coming days.
Thanks again for the advice, hope your grows are bountiful.

Get the PH or EC wrong & it's bad news for the plants

I'll help you if I can but I want lots more information and some questions answered . No 1 what temps your room running at lights on and off . No 2 what temps your res/water is getting to lights on and off . No 3 what nutes you using. No 4 what's the water level in the bucket like compared to the bottom of the net pot. No 5 are you using a air pump and if so how many litres a hour is it pumping. No 6 do you own ec and ph meters . No 7 how often are you changing the res . No 8 what's the roots looking like and for now we will leave it there . If you can't upload pictures because of your post count you can go and play in the three word or five words story threads and then go poke your head into some diaries and introduce yourself obviously in the ones you're interested in 😃

British green, thanks brother I appreciate it, any help or advice you can share is most welcome.

Not far at all from Saddleworth. Other side of Mossley.

I'v got a few pictures, so will try and upload when i'v answered these questions.
    1. Max and Min over 24hr = 79F - 64F
    2. Honestly, I never knew to check the water temp. I have done now. It's 17.5C (63.5F) Lights on.
    3. I'm using Advanced Nutrients. Grow, Micro, Bloom. Voodoo Juice and B52. I have some Sensi CalMag Xtra but have not used any.
    4. Water level is under the bucket by half inch. Strong air pump so bubbles reaching bucket.
    5. Yes. air pump is Hailea ACO-9610 600LPH. it has 4 air pumps. So i have 2 stones in each bucket.
    6. I do not own an EC meter (yet) and yes I have this ATC pH meter tester.
    7. I am changing the water in each bucket weekly. 13/14 Liters per bucket.
    8. I don't know a lot but I thought the roots were looking pretty good and both plants. Super white roots. One plants roots were growing a lot faster than the others but looked good. I put nutes in last night and when I checked to take pics a minute ago. Both roots were not as white as the night before. I'm hoping the bubbles will give them a wash and thats all it is.
I also have a tube heater with a thermo on it. Turns on if temp drops below 65F

Extra detail. I'm currently running the extraction for 15 minutes every couple of hours, and both fans alternatively for 15 minutes every 45 minutes.
