    Default 8" adequate for 2 600w?

Planning on going from 1x 600w to 2x 600w so need to upgrade from my current RVK A1 6".

I'm looking at the acoustic box fans, the 8" is only 26DB and shifts 770 m/3 compared to the RVK 8" A1 at 42DB and 796 m/3.

Now I only ever ran my 6" at 40-60% capacity on the controller, with passive intake. I'm hoping I can keep passive intake with the new setup.

Would 8" be sufficient? Grow space will be around 2.4m x 1.2m.

I run 2 x 600 watts with the 8" Rvk but I also use at 5" intake, on summer days it gets too hot and I wish I'd got a bigger fan. So I would say go bigger and use a controller again.

dont forget that airflow will need to be matched to filter etc(slightly less than filter rating)

when i was looking at combos i found it hard with some fans rating to then find a matching filter for them,so worth doing homework for both before buying.

I think it all comes down to the area you are working with. But if your running 2x600 then an 8" sounds about right.

    i ran 2 * 600s in a 2.4 by 1.2 tent with a 8 iinch rvk a1 and it coped - just. but summer temps were higher
I used this with both passive and also for summer with a 4 inch intake fan

I would go for a 8 inch rvk L1 - the higher power one next time and run it off a controller to be honest, but its a slightly louder.
use acoustic duct and you will be fine

Hmmmm, I'm seeing some people saying they're using a 6" L1 with no problems and other people saying they're struggling with a 10"!

Noise is my main concern, I'd boxed my 6" A1 in and used acoustic ducting but it wasn't anywhere near silent and I was constantly on tenderhooks.

Heard good things about the box fans that they're almost silent, then other people say they're useless. Don't wanna be spending out only to find it's a waste of time and I can't return it.

    8" RVK A1 - 796 m3/hr - 44DB
    8" RVK L1 - 1008 m3/hr - 44.9DB
    8" Gekko - 1000 m3/hr - 53DB
    8" TD Silent - 800 m3/hr - 19DB
    10" RVK A1 - 860 m3/hr - 39.7DB
    10" RVK L1 - 1080 m3/hr - 41.9DB

Taking that into considering obviously the TD Silent is a winner, but if that's not powerful enough I'm looking at the RVK L1.

I suppose after a certain point it doesn't matter on fan size / air it shifts if the ambient room temperature is high anyway...

    Are those numbers right?

The difference between an 8" and 10" RVK L1 is barely noticeable.
