Default Answered: RDWC - Nutrient planning

Alright folks got the blueprint ready for my RDWC system build, currently trying to plan ahead for nutrient amounts/feeding schedule. Found this info on a different forum and just wanted to get some opinions on it....

"Nutrient Solution PPM per Stage (Suggested)*

    Indica's
Seedlings and clones 300-400ppm 5.3-5.5 ph
    early vegg 500-600ppm 5.3-5.6 ph
    middle vegg 600-800ppm 5.4-5.6 ph
    late vegg 800-1000ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
    early flower 1000-1300ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
    middle flower 1400-1600ppm 5.5-5.8 ph
    late flower 1000-1100ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
    ripening 300-500ppm 5.4-5.6 ph

    sativa's
seedlings and clones 250-350ppm 5.3-5.5 ph
    early vegg 300-500ppm 5.3-5.6 ph
    middle vegg 500-700ppm 5.4-5.6 ph
    late vegg 700-900ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
    early flower 1000-1100ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
    middle flower 1100-1300ppm 5.5-5.8 ph
    late flower 800-1000ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
    ripening 300-500ppm 5.4-5.6 ph"

I guess this will vary some from strain to strain, but really want to have everything dialed in as much as possible for this grow as I have been guilty of not checking EC in the past. I've now got a bluelab EC pen so no excuses! Let me know what you think, thanks.

No need for any kind of plan like this at all.

You will start low and work your way up with feed, the best thing to do would be starting a diary mate

Keep it simple mate, that plan is mental

    5.8 in veg
    6.0 in flower

In water we usually let the ph drift 0.2 either way if needed too, especially in flower as it makes different ranges of nutes available, not essentially, 5.8 & 6.0 are all you need to aim for

Thanks for the advice guys. When you say feed as needed, what are you specifically looking out for to determine if more feed is needed? I have been running DWC setup for a while now and big flowering plants can drink almost a full bucket in a day - surely the EC/PH will be affected as the water levels drop. So when I move to RDWC with a lot more water in the system overall, I want to keep these within a set range or as close as possible

As far a source ec goes when growing in any type of medium it's "how long is a piece of string" territory mate, and can't even say what you're looking for as its a vast spectrum!
You simply have to start low, say 0.3/0.4 above your base ec and then let the plant tell you if it wants more

After that the best advice is don't complicate it trying to look at stuff like that schedule, get it growing and see what's what as you go

Cheers Hopper. When you say base EC what do you mean? Would that be just plain ph'd water with no nutes?

Not even ph'd mate, just plain water, I usually check mine after it's been sat overnight
So mine is 0.3, I'd then take my ec to 0.7/0.8 when I first start adding grow on top of the rhizo

Ok cool. I will start a diary and try keep track of what I'm doing and when, and hopefully you guys can keep me right along the way? Just need to see this current grow out first, they're on week 3 flower atm.

Redz - yeah I've got the basic patterns noted now but each time I start a grow I try out new strains! I love a bit of variety in my jars but for growing I guess it's hard to build up a picture of what your plants want and when they want it if each time it's a new strain lol.. not helping myself much here haha. Got a few strains in mind that have worked really well for me in the past so maybe I will pick one of them and really try learn how to grow it to its full potential by getting to know it much better
    Cheers
