Jesus. Try and find a IDE cable in the shops. Maplins, no. PC World, no.

Yep majority shops don't stock half the stuff you need now.

I needed some thermal paste as cpu fan wasnt working correctly pc kept shutting off.

Rather than £3 from amazon next day I had to pay £7 from PC world.

And half time they don't stock what I need.

PC world never has anything I want. I had a rant with them last year. I asked why do you call yourselves PC World? If you have World in your title, it assumes you cover everything. You should call yourself PC Island. rant rant rant.

That's jolly decent of you, MC. Sadly, I need one to cover both HDDs The MOBO only has one EIDE slot.

I've no idea if the cable was the cause of the original problem, but I can't continue to fix it with the cable I have now. It would be nice if the new cable would fix both problems.

It's odd that safe mode did see the 2nd drive, but not when it went into normal mode.
Going into safe mode this morning (before I damaged the cable) didn't allow me to see the slave drive.
