I use dreamweaver 4 and Photoshop - both never worked on Linux, and I have a lot of old programs that won't work.

Also, as an aspie, I don't like change. Swapping OS is too much. It's bad enough going from XP to Win 7. I've put into classic mode. It's close to the original classic mode, but could do a lot better.

The idea of a Linux boot disk was just to sort problems rather than to change the OS

Whilst you can have a live Windows CD, they are just a bloody pain to create as M$ do not do them, so you have to sort it all out yourself That said, I see Bart PE is now available on major sites (A Win Live CD)... but will probably be missing some of the tools you want

The IDE cable finally arrived, but didn't solve the problem.

I am wondering if it is the power supply or the cable that plugs into it. I do have another power supply but doesn't come with its own on/off switch. That switch is helpful due to the CMOS battery problem.

I am going to have to psych myself up and install it, but not just yet as I've things to do.

Wait a few more days, busy at the minute but once I have a spare hour or so will get the mobo tested and sent off to you.

I wondered that in the first instance... is there no spare molex plugs on the PSU that you can try?

If you lived closer, I'd pop round & sort it out for you
