Ducting

Whats people's thoughts on combi flex ducting does it dampen the sound down better than acustic duckting.
I've boxed my fan up hung it on bungees and wired it upto a ecotechnics speed con and its still noisy. Its driving me mad. Any help/info greatly appreciated

Hi mate,

I use acoustic ducting and it is quiet. I've never used combi flex so I cannot compare.

As for the fan noise, I have mine in a large cardboard box which padded with foam from an old mattress. You can use expanding foam to fill the box with, but some precautions need to be taken.
1: Cover the fan in cling film to stop the foam entering the fan.
2: Make some holes in the box so the excess foam has somewhere to escape.

The box i made is mdf and ive put attic rock wool inside. I think its more the air noise now so just looking for suggestions.

The fans from my Mars II 400 makes more noise than the sound coming from the ducting/fan. Maybe something better than attic rock wool may improve your problem.

Use combi on me cool hood and extraction on flower tent cudnt be assed messin with that acoustic but i have used it an got it on veg tent at min. Acoustic quieter than combi i wud say.

Me box fan an filter located in attic an groom below in spare room. I lashed a spare blanket over it goes almost silent lol but noise aint issue for me with them located up there
