    Default Lumatek 600w Bulb Question.

    Hello..

Are those lumatek 600w bulbs that are sometimes advertised
with the Lumatek dimmable ballasts made to be dimmed down to
400w and 250w etc,or should you get a different bulb to match
each of the different settings ?

    Cheers..

    ed.

Yea mate can be dimmed down but i got that many bulbs i just match what i want lol. Wudnt really wana dim 600w to 250w as you lose bit of output on the lumens side

Dont tend to dim down MH bulbs though was advised against this while back

Now then ed, i thought this once so put a 250w bulb on the 250w setting of a 400w dimmable ballast and it blew! so tried another and it blew... ever since then i just dim the right wattage bulb for the ballast and it works a treat 👍🏼

I read something a while ago about dimming the bulb from 600 down to 250 and it
    effecting the bulb output.

I use one and yes, it's fine to dim down the settings but I wouldn't go down to 250 just incase, 400 is fine. If you need to use 250 then you can get MH bulbs for pretty cheap like 9.99 etc

It seems strange that the bulbs blew using the same wattage as the setting.

So you use just one bulb for each setting now ?

I always dim my 600w lumatek bulb to 400w during the summer months with no issues Edgar. Should I need 250w I have the correct bulb spare for that setting.

Going down to 250w with a 600w does seem a bit dodgy.

It seems strange to hear bulbs blowing when using the matching wattage with the settings.

    I fancied treating myself to a 400w bulb and ballast.So I thought I might
as well look at decent dimmable one with the full 250w 400w and 600w settings.

400w would be enough for now but I might go for a 600w blast in one of my
    future grows !

its a dimmable ballast, this is because it dims for example a 600w bulb... its not a multi bulb, changeable wattage ballast its a dimmer... ‘(dimmable)’ ... but that’s just my a opinion haha
