New HPS Kit

Just bought a new lighting kit, 600w HPS. Got it in the tent last night, started out at 250w and moved up to 600w for the rest of the night.

I woke up this morning and found a couple of fan leaves slightly bleached, just measured the distance between the light and canopy and it's 24 inch, I thought 24 inch would be plenty for 600w? To be fair though I can feel the heat on the hand test, even when it's on 250w. Any advice?

air circulation is key mate... have a fan blowing between the light and top of plant an a couple blowing air up towards the exhaust

Thanks mate, only got the 1 fan at the minute just to really strengthen the stems. Makes sense to direct the heat to the extraction, will have to go grab another fan (or 2) tomorrow.

600w intense like wen they babies prefer start on 250 til they get goin on little. Bleachin wen they that young will stunt them a little

She's not that young though, had her under the the Chinese LED lamp for a few weeks. I think maybe that LED may have something to do with it though, pretty sure it was less than 100w power. Do you think she'll be alrite under 400w at this stage?

Yea big enough there for 600w mukka. Thought they were much younger.
Led will bleach them if it to close for sure. Didnt no you were usin one kida

The bleach happened after I put the HPS in, LED has been fine but as I said just cheap Chinese crap I bought on eBay, yields have been disappointing but no bleaching up until now.

I tried 600w on this plant last night and got bleach on a couple of leaves, is extraction my problem like TT said?

what size is your exhaust fan mate? it has to be nice an powerful to keep heat from a 600 under control... an intake fan is also a must tbh

HPS is out of date, man. LED grow light is a new fashion. Just buy a new LED grow light now and throw out the HPS. There are many brands about LED light. Unit Farm, Mars Hydro, MEIZHI, and so on. Just wondering why you choose a HPS. Do it now and save your plants.

Rubbish....HPS grow lights are specifically designed and manufactured for horticultural use...LED is still very much in its infancy the ones on the market at the moment are prototype at best..
