Have the lamp 24 inches from the top growth of the plants then point your fan so it blows a steady breeze between the plants and the lamp...Place your thermostat on top of one of the pots, if it goes above 27c then raise the lamp further till you achieve between 25c~27c.

Its the temps that are important here not light intensity....I get my 1000w metal halide 12 inches above canopy though they are mounted vertically so the heat radiates out more than down...The heat will dehydrate the leaves quicker that the plants young root system can replenish it...So if your temps and room humidity are in range you shouldnt have any issues..
