Default Root comparison pics airpots vs cloth pots

Here are a few pics to compare the root development of air vs cloth pots.

Firstly let me say I don't consider the root development to be overly good in either as I ran out of Rizo in early veg and was to skint to get some more.

The plants were different strains, Airpot Juan Herer, Cloth pot Sugar Black Rose.

Side by side there isn't much in it.

TO GROW A PLANT YOU NEED TO THINK LIKE A PLANT

Looking at the bottom the Airpot is a clear winner but I do think this is because there is an air space under the airpot whereas the cloth was sitting flat on the rizo stand. Next grow I will put some wire mesh over the rizo stand. I was going to do this in any case as I like to see the run off.

Airpot clear winner looking at the bottom.

Now for a look at the roots when the coco is broken up to look inside.

To me the cloth pot looks like the winner here. Easily.

Doesnt seem to be a great deal in it mate. Seems like the last comparisons maybe the bag has it.

Looking at the two side by side it is clear the Airpot is much dryer than the cloth pot. Water was stopped at exactly the same time, both plants were of a similar size.

Looking at in the flesh the Cloth pot seemed to come out best, it is also lower giving more grow height.

To true Karsa. Think I will do one more test run with same strain and if the cloth still look better I will ditch the airpots even if it is just for the saving on nutrients. The airpots do dry out teribbly.

very nice comparison also a smashing idea,
airpots have more draw backs, pure pain in the ass to water

    can't argue with the results

airpots FTW as long as the airpots are compacted out properly and media is worked through all the holes they are breeze to water, i have zero water seeping out the air holes.

media does seem to dry out faster in the airpots though
