    Default Soil Vs Coco??

    Evening THCtalk,

I have been reading recently about the benefits of growing in coco instead of soil and was wondering if any of you have made the switch. I am currently on my 3rd (Auto) grow using PM soil with OT nutes and not sure if it would be wise for me to make the switch as I am still new to growing and am still learning something new everyday.

If I was to make the change what would, if anything would I need to change or look out for. Below is my current setup so you know what I am working with just in case I need extras if moving to Coco.

    90x90x130 tent
    600watt dim able ballast
    400watt duel spectrum bulb
    light box
    3x 17ltr fabric pots
    4inch intake fan
    6inch outake
    PH meter
    OT G+B
    vitalink ph down

Thanks once again guys for any info its gratefully appreciated.

The only thing I can see you would need is an ec pen to measure the feed, although it can be done without one.

Feed every watering and water everyday when established.

Both have there pros an cons tbh. Less watering an messing about with ph in soil. Were as coco you need to be on the ball with the ph. Things can be changed an corrected alot quicker in coco. As soil it can take a while before things show up.

I do prefer me coco but great things can be done in soil to

If your goin coco cana AB rhizotonic. Liquid silicon wil see you Good till flower

I'd take a look at blues current diarys before you make the switch
He's doing great things in soil as was ba and if you do it right you can do
The same : ) an tbh either way I'd stick to soil for a bit longer so your
Really in tune with wot your using atm as you sound like your already
Understanding wot your using and that's the way to be mate.
Get in tune an see wot you can pull from your kit on a good grow
Then make up your mind.but I'd defo give blues diarys a read as once
You do understand it all then you could easily switch to wot he's using and
    Probably do better.

Think I will stick with soil a little longer to gain more experience. Nutrients is the hardest part that I am struggling with atm but will get there in the end Will take a look at his diary thanks for that.

All you need to really learn is the feed an keeping the plant a stable color of nice green just a tad
Dark so you know it's fed up an should it pull extra food it's already there instead of it going yellow.

I found with my ot that it took 2 feeds to get right into the plant so say I upped the feed by the third
Feed I could easily see how much difference the feed had made.so say it went a tad too dark then I'd give
A plain water feed or two then drop the feed a ml and then that usually kept it nice an then I'd give the odd
Feed at the higher dose just to give it a kick to keep it where it is or push it slightly.
So it's all about that sort of understanding an once you get that then you can use any feed and medium
Coz you know how to read the plant and the feed your using.

appreciate your advice mate. This is something that I think will just come with experience. I am going with the pretext that less is more with the nutrients and I have now kept a daily diary of whats happening with my plants everything from temps to growth to colour just to see if what I am doing is having any negative affects.

    Basically wot I'm saying mate : )
And yes less is more but the color tells
You where it needs to be anyway so
Although that's true it really means don't
Push the feed/plants too much.people think
More food surely makes more bud but it doesn't
So that's where that saying comes from.

Hi mate, I’ve just finished my first grow, and was in coco too. Never had any issues, only over feeding but that’s my fault though
