Can an MH bulb be dimmed ??

Hi guys i'm sure i was told here on the talk in my early days that you shouldn't dim MH bulbs, i have a 600W bulb and was wanting to put it over my new born but think the 600W will be to much for them. any and all advice welcome guys, cheers G'.

When dimming mh bulbs you alter the colour spectrum from blue to green, so as above it's not recommended

IM probably wrong... but I have always dimmed my HPS and MH with my digital balast...... I cant visually notice a difference in spectrum, but I can see the power difference. For me tho, I dont go beyond the 50%......... I actually ended up buying a 600 so i could stop diming my 1000w tho.
