    Default Alternative inline fans

I'm looking for a fan to hook up to a diy CF to stop any smells that will no doubt appear, I've seen on ebay a place selling a rvk alternative inline fan and they are loads cheaper than the real thing, they are also 2 speed. Question is are they any good, anyone from here bought one?

I used a TT100 about a year ago...they are shit! I now use the TT100 for intake and use a 5'' HVK for extraction. Do yourself a favour, spend an extra £50 and get a decent fan, you'll regret not doing so next summer.

S&P TD Mixvent range I can heartily recommend, the TT ones are cheap imitations that look similar but thats as similar as they get, S&P ones are totally different league. Having tried Ruck, TT type and S&P TD I fond S&P to be the best complete solution, the ruck easily the most powerful but I found even with extensive sound dampening and acoustic ducting (also then boxed and dampened) the airflow noise was still too much for the level of discretion required in that location. Sure you can add a speed controller, but to get one that doesnt cause buzz or hum or some strange chopping sound isnt cheap. The S&P whilst more expensive than the ruck is cheaper than a ruck and noise free speed controller combination and is quiet.. in fact placed in the same setup ruck was previously in, near silent, there is more noise eminating from my pc case than from the boxed S&P. Also it has 2 speeds so there is still adjustment that can be made for temps/airflow rate/further noise reduction reasons if necessary. The airflow on the TD250 is more suited than the TD160 for use with a carbon filter.

The cheapest option can often become the most expensive once you have had to upgrade fan straight away because the fan isnt up to the job, replace quickly worn fans, upgrade ducting for silencing, add speed controllers or whatever..

I've got a TT100 and a TT125 both are a little noisy and the TT100 was OK for a CFL grow but it didn't cope with 400W HPS so well.

RVK are much better but more expensive - you pays your money....

    S&P are inexpensive and solid
Vortex 4"/6" are fairly priced for the output

    * Get yourself a FSC (fan speed controller)
It will be the best ~$20 you've spent as it
lowers NOISE and lets you get the perfect
    airflow. EBAY has 'em cheap

i had two tt100's that both broke, luckily i got refunded on both and spent 20quid more on a RVK fan which i must say is about 100x better than the TT series soooo worth it
