    Default LED lighting upgrade help

    Hi everyone

I’m about to start my second grow and I’m not happy with my light
    viparspectra 300w
    In a 3x3 area
I’m guessing it’s to small plus from what I’ve read it’s not got enough red light ?
    Only doing 2 auto plants
Want to spend up to £200 max
    Any ideas ?
Been reading about COB leds not sure what to think

    From what I have read...
HPS is about 35 % light and 65% heat. LED lighting is the reverse. About 65% efficient and 35% heat.
That's when using Good quality LED panels....
Which means for an HPS replacement...you can reduce it by 35% True Wattage...

    35% of 1000w = 350 so a LED panel with 650 True Watt.

    35% of 600w = 210 so a LED panel with 390 True Watt.

So with the space you have I would be using a 600W HPS or a 900w LED panel
Viperspectra 900W panel is about 415 True Watt according to sellers info...
If using LEDs I would use 2x450 for better light spread

Wen u say you're not happy, what do you mean? What's ure setup? Hanging distance, etc? I would say the 300 wouldn't cover ure 3x3 space but rather than just change tech and go the cob route u might do better getting another 300 or similar spec panel. Vipar panels use 5w diodes but due to the droop effect, a 5w diode only draws around 3w,so with 60 diodes you ought to be drawing 180w but according to the specs it's only 136,which suggests they're dialled down to 2w or thereabouts. 136w will not cover a 3x3 space.

You could look at grownortherns teelos series (the 0008 would work for you) but theyre double what you want to pay. Likewise, I've just invested in a MIGRO cob in my 2x2 space but again you would need to invest more than £200.

Digital ballast with 600w dualspec bulb is perfect for your needs.
Pick one up for well under £200
With digital ballast you can chose settings from 250-400-600-600super lumins so caters for all stages
