Hey, i read the title and came here to see a field of barley growing!

No, Mr Motion it makes no difference if they are autos. The seeds are the same. Like said above, keep them dark , damp and warm and they should come up.

I usually plant mine straight into the soil, but this way seems very popular.

I always use the damp paper towel method inside of a plastic container "the type your salad might come in from the kebab shop" i keep the paper towel damp but not soaking wet and keep the lid on my container i then wrap a small dark cloth around the container "something like a flannel or similar" then give it some gentle bottom heat, i have just popped 3 beans doing this and my source of bottom heat i got from placing the wrapped container on top of my sky box, the seeds popped and had enough root to hit soil in around 32 hours, good luck brother, G'.

Yes mate still in paper towel, jus checked, still not much difference. Seeds are cracking taking ages to sprout. Been in a soaked paper towel, in a sandwich bag, in a cupboard in my kitchen for just over 36 hrs now.
Don’t know what’s going on. I think just have to be patient.

I’m a beginner using autopot, your help and advice much appreciated 👍🏽

Check your temps as well. Make sure it's to hot and cold. That could slow it down

I do the exact same way mate, put them in my boiler cupboard for a day and if nothing then on top of the heater on low and by morning they have all cracked
