Hey dude. If ya looking to use it, personally I would use at similar ration as perlite ie only 5-10% in a soil mix

I've done a coco plug for my 1 of my current plants to make seedling stage easier but it is still a soil grow

I'm sure someone with some more experience with will chime in too but I think low ratio fine in soil with no issues otherwise decide if ya wanna go coco or soil 😊

    You can add coco.
Although coco is a great growing medium I would go with clay pebbles or perlite as they don't hold as much water as coco and have more air retention

    I would go 20-30%

I can only see 1 value on that chart that's total % actually works out too 100% 😂😂😂 scratch that, can't see any 😂

Can you PM me the paper it's come from or a tag words so I can find the study?

Why would it have to add up to 100%, it's what the mediums are holding on to, if I did a controlled experiment and put 5l of water at the same temperature through let's say 5l of growing medium and then measured the water/air ratio each medium would give a different result would it not.

I don't think you would ever get 100%.

I'm not allowed to give links, just google it, but it makes complete sense to me as a sit on the fence guide to water/air retention ratios in different mediums.

The only reason I can possible think that the values shouldn't add up to 100% air/water is if the study was counting the mass of the medium as well

If your looking at % of air to % of water surely any % stats should total 100% otherwise there is info being withheld

You can private message a link buddy 😎

How long do they hold the water/air for then because rice hulls for instance break down and won’t hold onto water or air for long?
