    Default Achalasia

This is an extremely long-shot given Achalasia affects just 1 in 100,000 people, but anybody here with it and using weed to help?

I have this awful nonsense, and in a nutshell, it means it is very tricky to swallow normal food - I've been living on not much more than soup for 12 months now - and there is no proven cure.

When I vape it does seem to offer some respite, albeit brief.

Anyway, this'll probably be the shortest ever thread, but worth a try.

Oooo, thanks for that, fatha G' - I'd not considered that but will investigate.

It's a vague miracle that anybody has even heard of it, so I'm pleased!

    Thanks, mate.

    Hi mate,

Sorry to hear about your illness.

I've seen this before with a friend of a friend. They tried everything to try and get away from surgery and I'm pretty sure they ended up having botox injections twice a year to open the esophagus.

Have you been offered surgery to cut a bigger hole?

Are you aware of the effects of botox injections?

Worth a look pal, good luck.

Concider trying a 1:1 THC - CBD tiniture or if you don’t have any CBD, make it with your THC strain but only part decarb. May help, may not but worth a try

Ah, it is what it is - not the end of the world - just very annoying.

I've had the three tests - gastroscopy (unsedated - nightmare), barium swallow (stick down the toilet for a few days afterwards) and the manometry (absolutely fucking hideous and I'd rather eat soup forever than do that again - guess I need to man-up-etry ;-) )

I'm aware of the treatments. The specialist has suggested botox may be the first route, or balloon dilation, but I've already requested surgery from the outset. Even then, it's not the perfect solution.

My research continues and I very much appreciate your reply.

Just to bring this up to date: I now have a date for the operation - mid November.

    It's an op called a Heller's Myotomy - possibly a 4 night stay.

And me plants'll be at 11 weeks...

    Shitting it, frankly.
