Default Hi I’m an enthusiastic newb, soz

Posted in the hi section but hopefully this area may get me a better yield...

Hi my biggest hobby and time consumer has been my reef tank for the last 5 years.

Still really enjoy that hobby but have got a bit bored lately hence why i’m here.

Found a forum for Reef keeping that really helped me so hoping this forum is just as helpful for my new hobby.

I’ve only been watching vids on YouTube and reading for a few days so forgive me if I sound like a stupid newb.

I have a rough plan and any feedback would be great.

Was thinking two plants something easy like northern lights I fancy a 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m green qube tent for this purpose.

I want to keep things as simple as I can and I heard with biobizz soil there’s no adjustments to be made ph wise.

Not sure on lighting but have had great success with LED’s on my reef and would like to keep things as economical as possible electricity wise but not scared if that’s not an option either.

    Any advice welcome,

    Regards Squaggy.

Any decent soil will be around the PH you require mate, therefore no need to PH adjust anything

LEDs are a minefield, they may advertise a 1,000w LED but you then find out that the draw is only a couple of hundred watts... research carefully! HID is always a good option

Yes gaining good advice and agree led is a bit advanced.

My electric bill is already a lot because of my fish tank no doubt it will double with these bulbs going 18 hours a day.

    Cheers

High Intensity Discharge mate, usually anything really bright and really hot

Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium are the two most common
