Default 1st time growing, water drainage problems

    Hi,

I watered the soil before sticking the seeds in and the second time 4 days ago when the soil was dry about 2 inches deep. After the second watering leaves started pointing down. I overwatered it, right? I already have a bunch of drainage holes in the bottom but i dont think its enough. Should i take out the plant and mix the soil with more perlite or put rocks in the bottom or should i just leave it alone till it dries on its own?

I am on day 17 of growing these autoflowers on my balcony. I use only natural light, no lamps.

    Thank you

It's a balancing act with watering
What size pot is it now? I only grow autos and I don't go smaller than 10 litre tubs as you don't pot up autos
Put some more soil in upto to first set of leaves and get a breeze on it to strengthen the stems up
You just watered so pick the pot up to get and idea of the weight and don't water any more until it feels half that, you might not need to water again for well over a week, the roots need oxygen as well as water

Also add that don't worry about if its not drinking the water fast, because your not using bulbs you don't have the heat from them to help dry out the soil
Looking good for a windowsill grow fella

The roots won't use the new soil now until late on in flower
Just don't cover any leaves with the dirt
I usually add extra soil the first couple of weeks as the water settles the soil down its just to help support the stem until they thicken up and can support the weight of new growth
Before you water anymore instead of sticking your finger in use a bit of absorbant piece of thin wood like a lolly stick and slowly edge it down at the edge of the pot, if it comes up moist hold off the drink
