My 2p is I'd be worried what the rain/clouds had picked up on their journey esp. in and around commercial/industrial areas. At least with tap water we have 'certficated' contents and can deal with it based on that. Rainwater we dont...my Grandad used it on all of his plants & vegetables and swore by it but that was 30 odd years ago, loads more dodgy chemicals and stuff in the air now...

Ever seen the paintwork on a white car after a rainstorm...full of black particles

I just wouldn’t worry about it AND yeah there’s loads of stuff in the air and loads of stuff we ain’t supposed to eat because of this and that . Most of our crops in bloom he uk get rain water and if no rain water it’s pumped out of rivers and drain which get filled by rainwater. I’d love to use the stuff but it’s near impossible as I’m in the loft and don’t wanna have a pump pumping it back up 😃🇬🇧

Yeah BG, worried was probably way too strong a word, in no way a flat earther and quite happily use filtered tap water

Wonder if it makes a difference growing on a new housing estate where all new MDPE pipework compared to an old estate/house where all pipework is lead...

Just to add to the mytiscism

It depends where you get your rain water. If it hits the ground then rain changes to that ground chemistry, and ground pH, the minute it hits the ground. However, if it goes into a bucket and never touches the ground then it has no pH, and almost no EC. (Neutral) If rain is used in synthetic grows, which is a good option, it's important to add Cal-Mg to the rain. If rain is used in a super organic soil, which is a good option also, then Plain Rain with on additives is super for your grow.

Gaz, you bet ya, its good for soil build/living soil! I've used rain that was stored for way over 3 months! Used for Indoors. However as it sits, the EC will change just a tiny bit. The trick is, keep it clean! Keep it covered!
