Default Clones or Seeds ? (1st grow)

Am hopefully gonna start my 1st grow this weekend am going for a 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m high tent.

Am gonna exhaust into my loft and have passive intake and a couple of oscillating fans.

Am leaning towards a digital ballast to use 400w metal halide first then a 600w hps for the rest.

Also think I will go for parabolic reflector ?

Only predicament I have is I have been offered clones and assured by a friend it’s quicker and easier etc.

But I’ve also read the pros and cons of clones vs seeds.

I have also got 10 feminised northern lights seeds from the Seedsman.

Was thinking of going for the ten maybe 8 would be the result ?

Or go for 6 clones ?

    Am I limited for space going for 6 - 10 plants ?

    Going to use 10L pots.

Anyway apologise for my ramblings but any advice for this newbie is appreciated.

    Thanks.

4 plants in 15L pots would be ideal for your space. Anymore than that and you’ll struggle with high humidity, lack of space and lack of air movement. With a decent veg and plant training you’ll pull the same amount from just the 4.

Clones will be faster and save you a little veg time but there’s no guarantee on strain and there’s always the chance of pests as you don’t know the environment there coming from.

    Thanks for your reply.

Why would you say 15L pots over 10L pots ?

So you would suggest popping 6 of the northern light seeds then hope to get 4 ?

Worse case have to do 6 still doable right ?

15s over 10s for the bigger root mass. As the saying goes more roots more fruits.

Popping 6 would be good yes. Then select the 4 strongest

So you would discard two instead of just going with the 6 ?

6 would still be ok in that footprint wouldn’t it ?

Also what pots would you use specifically ?

Would the ones I pictured be ok ?

Yes I’d discard two. I can assure you four is plenty for that footprint.

What medium do you plan to use and how long do you plan to veg exactly?

I’m not sure exactly as I’m a newbie.

The seeds are feminised northern light photos from Seedsman which I know means I can put into flower when I choose which means going to 12/12 light right ?

So how long would you say to veg which means 18/6 Light right ?

Medium I’m not sure was thinking the canna terra pro soil ? But the guy at my local hydro store has apparently his own soil which I hear is very good what would you suggest ?

Yes that’s right 18/6 for the vegative stage and then 12/12 for flower stage.

If you plan to do the seeds your looking at around 6 weeks veg time and 8-10 weeks flower time.

For rooted clones 4 weeks veg time and again 8-10 weeks flower time.

Id suggest coco coir as it’s fairly simple and very easy to correct should you have any issues being a new grower

Really wanna keep it simple and I know using coco requires a lot of monitoring of ph ec etc and with it being my first grow not sure I’d be able to react quick enough to issues hence why I think a straight forward soil grow would be best for me ?
