Default Reducing water EC without RO?

    Hello dudes,
Is there a way to reduce the EC of my tap water besides a RO?
Currently my starting EC before nutes is 0.5ms.

Well I guess so I could pump the plants with extra nutes?
Or is it not worth the trouble?

Start your plants on your background Ec of 0.5 and use a root stimulant until there established. Once established increase your total Ec by 0.1, so add in your base nutrients to take it point one above your base number.

As the plants grow adjust the total amount of dissolved soilds accordingly to suit your plants needs, increasing by no more than 0.2 at a time.

Your background water is fine as it is, believe it or not mine is 0.9-1.0 from the tap and I’ve never bothered with RO

Yes , water filter will reduce your EC/PPM depending on the filter technology. Cheap and faaaar more then enough. Good for watering and mixing.

Reversed Osmosis will seriously reduce your EC/PPM depending of the system used. Expensive but ideal for watering and mixing

Desilling water will eliminate any EC/PPM. Zero basically. Cheap to expensive (depending on the setup) ideal for mixing adatives only

But at 0.5 it is still excellent quality

No not at all toblue. My water contains plenty of traces. If I’m coco I do need to use additives like Raw omina to free up those larger molecules of cal and mag in my water other than that and plenty of run off I’m fine.

    I barely exceed 1.4Ec

I too find this interesting, I am on a well water and was wondering about calmag in the water. I have read that .7 ec, should give you all the cal mag I need, never thought of size, thanks for the tip.

Thanks Blue. My background is zero, so am I feeding far to high at 1.1 - 1.2 ? Feeding multiple times each day in small pots, coco.
