Default Newbie/novice about to buy first indoor grow set up!! Please help!!!

    Hi Guys,

I apologise in advance if this has been asked a 1000 times.

I have done a lot of research over the last few weeks but I just can't seem to identify what setup is best for my situation so I'm hoping you experienced people can help me out with your knowledge.

I am going to be indoor growing in the UK in a spare bedroom that isn't that big. I'm looking to grow no more than 6 plants at anyone time but happy to do 4 if space and yield becomes a issue as I've heard less is more sometimes.

I'll be looking at a tent of about 1.2 x 1.2 x 2. Originally I was going to buy an all in one grow tent kit but after doing a bit of research it looks like these are cheap options that always break and you end up spending twice?

I have a budget of around 500 pounds but will stretch to a little more than that if it makes sense to.

In terms of lights from what I have read LED seems to produce less heat and use less electricity and that as a first time grower appeals to me for obvious reasons.

I suppose what I'm asking for is recommendations on what epuiptment to buy around my budget?

    1. is it better to buy a kit or parts individually?
    2. What light is going to serve me best for 4-6 plants?
    3. A decent tent that is 1.2 x 1.2 x 2 (I've been told green quebe)
    4. What size and make fan for 4-6 plants
    5. What air filter would be best for me
    6. Any anything else that I would need and help my setup to be the best it can around my budget.

    Thanks in advance

    John Wick

Buy your tent. Then buy your equipment separate. I bought tent/kit. The light n tent were fine. The rest was cheap crap!

You can google, (Bossled 900W) There on sell, and would be good for your size tent. I have same size tent, but prefer to run an MH-HPS 250W and 400W. If you can control your heat, a 600W one would be better. Good luck and happy growing.

Thanks I thought as much but where I'm struggling is what make/brand air filter and size ? And also do I go LED as less electricity no ballast etc ?

If i go with hps ill look at 600w definitely but do you have any recommendations and also ballast?

Would 1 600w be fine I've seen dual bulb ones?

Have you got a way to vent the hot air?

If heat is an issue LEDs are the way to go

Hi and welcome to the talk

1.2 square footprint will be fine for 4 plants or 6 little ones

If your budget is modest I would say go for a 4 or 600w HID kit. Decent LEDs are premium and would take a big chunk of your spend

With that I would recommend 6 inch rvk L1 fan ( not A ) and carbon filter. It will be noisey though.

Filter is best being rhino pro / phresh / mountain air / red scorpion / can filter. Needs to flow 700+ m3 per hour

    Those green qubes are nice

    Thanks for the response.

As in when I buy a filter and a fan ? Or are you talking once it comes out the duct off the tent to get it out of the room ? There is a window that can be opened.

Sorry, yes once it's all hooked up. Window may work. But you would have to be careful if you have neighbours near by, incase the see ducting.

Could work. I just worry that if your using 600w hps/MH lighting you going to need bigger, louder extraction set up.

    Could you vent into loft?

    So if I buy a green quebe 1.2 X 1.2 X 2 as the tent.

Then buy a 600w hps light?

Rhino pro filter and the 6 inch fan ?
