LEDs that say 600w are never that. You have to check there actual power consumption.

E.g if it says 600w actual power will be around 280-350 max.

For 600w hps replacement. You will need about 1200w led

Could you give an example of the LED system you are referencing. The bulk of the LED systems I have seen (cheaper versions) are rated on the number of LED x the wattage of that LED. So 100 LED x 10 watt is called a 1000W LED, except the LEDs are set to run at 1.9 - 2 watt for heat and longevity purposes. The back of this particular LED system states wattage drawn from plug to be 185. So draw your own conclusions.

However not all LED manufacturers make outlandish claims. Grow Northern a UK LED producer are very upfront in how they compare products with other forms of lighting. The quote below is an illustration of that.

GN Telos 0008 will not disappoint even the most demanding grower. With yields easily equivalent to a similar wattage HPS (perhaps even up to the level of a 400W HPS or 315W CMH

i got the light from boss led uk states 600w power output on it paid 190 pound for it. it all seems very confusing for me haha. i now am using the led just for the clones and vegative stage and hps for generative stage. is that a good idea or not as i know alot on how to stress a plant out which i do hate and i want to stop that part so me and my plants are on the same levelClick image for larger version.

Think it is this one then.

So actual output is in the 120 to 160w range.

I don't see why not, I veg most of my plants under 300/127W Led, before turning on the 400W HPS. Here is a new LED I just got yesterday. I am very impress with the Red Light she puts out. But she is only half the Watt's she was advertise.

That's the idea. You can get switches for grow and bloom.

When I had veg on it was like a light blue purple. When switched to flower I'd say it's more darkish purple because of the red.

    But mines only a 100w.
