its been used for 18 hours a day for 7 weeks. It was working perfectly and strong before. It must have been something I did when sweeping up a big dust. Is it possible to damage a bulb if its cooling down and a lot of dust touches the outside glass of the bulb?

no mate, oils from ur skin/fingertips will destroy a bulb but not brushing up dust in a room,
banging em, dropping em, touching them are all better of not doing

what do you use when handling a bulb, is there something thats multipurpose for example heat proof too if you need to unscrew it in a hurry and dont want to wait for it to cool off.
