Yup, I can't argue with any of that, hps for the win. But that's not to say CFL's are usless. If your restricted and CFL is your only option you can still have a decent harvest if the light is used correctly.

If it's heat and energy costs your trying to reduce, then for me LED cobs or quantum boards are the way forward.

Hps is the big daddy, there is nothing better.... yet. But there is close. The problem is the initial set up is high. I’m currently using a 315w cmh, and tbf, I’m not seeing much difference from hps regarding plant size and yield, but it was £260, compared with hps where you can get a decent setup for half that.

CFL is a good side light, but you need something heavy to bri g heavy flowers.

CFL are not as awful as some suggest, but they definitely are highly outclassed by HPS. No competition. And considering they cost the same amount of energy to run, and can be about the same price to buy..I would go with HPS.

I just finished a CFL grow if you are interested- https://www.thctalk.com/cannabis-foru...ery-minimalist

LED is good you know, that mars hydro I’ve got has pulled off some pretty decent buds on these autos! The plants are small, but that’s the strain, but the bud development is very good considering the amount of wattage. Isn’t much different from what hps would have pulled off I reckon.

The leccy is the best but, sure I might get a smaller yield using the cmh, and led, but I can run two tents now instead of one, for the same price pretty much on the leccy. It’s a good investment and better for the carbon foot print lol
