Default High proof alcohol for oil

    Hi guys,

I'm looking at alternatives to Everclear for extracting oil. What do you use? Is it worth making your own overproof alcohol? Is It possible?

I get my Everclear from a bunch of guys on Facebook but I'd like to become more self sufficient if possible. I also hate having to reactivate my Facebook just to contact them.

    Any thoughts?

99% isopropyl, when you order it, make sure to order some 3d printer tape, they are often used together so won't raise any flags.

I'm sure you already know this, but don't use gas when heating, a hotplate is the better option

Is it as safe as Everclear?

It is still a solvent, but it gets purged as it heats up. A lot of oil is made this way. I'll have a quick Google search on everclear, I've never looked into it before

I just had a look at everclear, it's a grain alcohol, isopropyl is 99.9%, you can get food grade iso from amazon.

So you would have no issue making oil (for purely medicinal purposes) with food grade iso?

For purely medicinal purposes, I would lean towards co2 extraction, but I guess it would depend on what the situation is. You could maybe brew your own Everclear, you can get all the stuff from the internet

co2 extraction is not an option for me.

    It's a difference of £330 for 5L of Everclear vs. £22 for 5L of iso :/

If your not worried about using a solvent for the oil, then the iso is what everyone uses, it's what Rick Simpson oil is based on & is what he used to make his oil.
If your looking for the cleanest option, it's going to be the Everclear, but the iso option has never proven to be in anyway harmful.
