    Default Calmag

So I’m running a RDWC system. Might be being a little pedantic but all my nutrients I’m using are pretty clear. All except my calmag which is pretty dark, looks like the colour of molasses. It turns my mute mix a brown colour. I’d like to use a less coloured calmag so it doesn’t stain my roots and I can see how white they actually they are a bit more accurately. Doesn’t matter too much in the grand scheme of things but something I’d like.

anyone know of any colourless cal mags?

Add some h2o2, that'll keep the roots nice and white 👍

I wouldn't be adding cal-mag to the tank it gives you an inaccurate Ec reading of your nute solution its best used as a foliar feed every couple weeks....

I’m not running a sterile system and I’m trying to get a clear nutrient as I can to avoid staining. Not a big deal if not

I’m using RO water in RDWC so think it’s imperative. I bring my base up to 200ppm’s before I add my nutrients and boosters etc

    Thanks

Even using RO water? Everything I’ve read and been told is that I should add calmag back into my water to 0.4EC? My water is 0EC out of the RO filter

LED lights are known to cause calcium deficiencies, that's why I ask. I never used Calmag before under MH or HPS but definitely found I needed it under LEDs. Foliar spray is best as mentioned above.

No not really....According to your diary your using Ionic soft water version nutes ? The Ionic soft water nutes contain extra calcium and magnesium to compensate for the lack of these micro elements in soft or Ro water....Therefore you would only need to supplement cal-mag if you have an issue or as a preventative measure, even then you only need small amounts not a constant full dose supply...

That’s correct bud, have been led to believe that I needed calmag with the RO water. Even when using the soft water version. I was assuming soft water nutrients are for water with a small amount of nutrients in them. Not RO which has nothing at all. I’ve ran through my whole grow feeding calmag to 200ppm.

    1. Shall I stop/reduce?
    2. Have I just been wasting my money or have I been adding something that may have had a detrimental effect on growth as well as wasting my money?
