Re using soil

Is it a bad idea to reuse soil or ? It’s biobizz thanks haven’t reused soil before but wondering if it’s worth doin ?

I've wondered this too. I've wasted a lot of dirt just by being stupid but I'm afraid of what may be growing in it if I reuse it.

I reuse because I know that it had not contained any pests, and if I am not introducing new soil, there is one less way for pests to invade.

But I let the soil dry out and remove the dead roots before rewetting it. And I flush too so there is little nutrients in it.

If you are using salt based nutes and feeding the roots then your soil is just a growing medium and it can be reused. It can even be steamed first to sterilize if you have pests or bad bacteria.

If you are growing organic and feeding the soil then you will need to bring it back to life first with compost, beneficials and some fresh soil mixed in.

Awesome! I am going organic and most of my early problems had nothing to do with the soil and more to me man handling the seeds. Thats great to know!

I reuse all my soil. I keep it out side until ready to pot up. Only bugs I have run across is those doodle bugs, and they don't seem to eat too much. lol But I always give my use soil a few cups of these before putting out in the flowering bed. After a couple of years the soil is very sandy like and drain water rather fast.
I also use Lime, Perlight, Kelp, Just Natures Organic Soil, and WhoolyCow.

Whats a doodle bug mate? Find insects fascinating. I went to have a look when i was over in FL. Ran into a rattlesnake in the bushes so made my way back to disney 😂

A doodle bug is related to a centerpead, but I don't think it has as many legs. It is Gray in color, about an inch or two at the most long, and if you touch it, it will roll up into a perfect ball.
