Default HPS advice for a friend

I have a friend (it's me) who needs advice because he's a bit thick and I said I'd sort him out.

This 'friend' is just pondering a move from LED to HPS and doesn't want to cause a fuss or anything but he (or she - but it is he) is happy as Larry with two 400W COBs pulling 200W each but thinks that he (or she) could do better with a dimmable 600W HPS with a circa 40cmx40cm reflector (perhaps with a cool tube at a later point)

His (or her) tent is 120(W) x 60(D) x 120(H) and this absolute idiot that I know is asking if that would be a suitable size for a basic HPS kit...you know, to dip his (or her) delicate toes in.

Would the heat be too much for a passive intake but with a 4" RAM extractor? Allegedly, the tent temp with the two COBs running is 27C with ambients as they are in his (or her) particular part of this green and pleasant.

Would a cool tube tube significantly reduce the temps if he (or indeed she) were to buy one?

I told you they were a bit dim.

Forgive me for asking on their (stupid) behalf.
I passed the vicar's wife a plate of biscuits but I never expected to see her snatch.

I would not try this with an open reflector. Cool hood or tube is a must imo.

You (Oops! He) will most probably need to increase fan & filter size....

    FFS!

It's not me! Der. Sweet Darwin above!

But if he (or she - getting a bit bored of typing that now) was using a 4" Rhino Pro avec a cool hood and big 4" RAM extractory thing, do you think that that would possibly solve their problem?

It's well above my HPS size so I am unsure but I use a 5" fan/filter with a controller on a 250w HPS for noise reduction

She's (or he - saved a key stroke) asked me whether that would cover a 120x60cm floorplan, M_C - I'm sorry, but she's insistent.

My floor space is only 58x76 so a little out my depth on bigger setups which become guess work for me

What sort of monolithic scale is that?

Cent of your metres or inches or something?

Tell your friend I had a 400w mh in a 60x60x140. 5 inch cool tube, 4 inch ram twin speed fan, on the 1st setting and a 4" filter. Blowing though the filter aswell. It was well manageable 👍🏻

She says, "Thank you for the feedback. Whilst we don't normally allow dogs to drink Stella out of a glass from the bar, it WAS quiz night and they do love it so. Thnak you for you feedback. 5 stars out of 5. Would get my dog drunk again."
