    Default Operation

I'm having an operation in mid-November and am shitting it.

It's quite an invasive one (albeit keyhole) and is on my throat (non-life-threatening illness and all that) and through core muscles - whatever they are.

Anyway, the point is as per the first line, which is, I'm incredibly nervous about it. Worst nightmare scenario and all that. (Think, I don't know, spiders in a dropping lift...or watching Scottish football or something - that sort of horribleness ;-) )

So to cut a long story short, what's the best prep other than "don't think about it" which isn't really working.

"Shut up and get on with it" or is there something I'm missing?

And is it ok to ask nurses to airdrop nudes?

Watch out, you'll create a vicious circle the way you are going...

...it's going to happen, just accept that & hope the surgeon had a good (but not too good!) night the night before

It's natural to worry about these things but they are totally outside of your own control... a bit like flying in a plane!

    Or air travel...that's a worry, too. ;-)

Always been a fretter but much better these days.

Head down and crack on then, innit?

I chose air travel on purpose, it's something where you have to relinquish total control to the pilot whilst being propelled in an aluminum tube 25,000 foo in the air...

Don't freak out about the surgery. This may be your first time for this, but for the surgeon and the floor nurses, it is a daily thing.

My best advice is to be nice and polite to everyone. Don't be too demanding and don't ride the call light. You will get better care if they like you.

Aye - I've mentioned this before but I used to have a thing called Pure OCD - nothing but the best for me - what a farking nightmare THAT was.

Instead of washing yer hands 126 times a day, imagine thinking the same thing 1,200 times...every hour. Bleddy exhausted I was.

However it still flares during times of stress despite the hundreds of hours of CBT.

Anyroad up, M_C's called it...s'happenning and that's all there is to it.

I mean, it's not as if it's not going to help - I can't swallow food so this will solve it.

Are they going to run you a Dr Phibes, where you drop food in a hole in the back of yer neck?

I always wanted one of those.
