See? This is where our brains differ.

I, too, have had my gallbladder removed. I was terrified, like you, but look back on it fondly as a great experience.

That, however, does not pacify me now. And I don't know why it doesn't. I've had one tremendous experience under the knife yet it still does not make it better the second time.

I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed the 7 seconds of anaesthesia the first time around...Lying on my back, speaking to the clever man with the drugs: "This reminds me of 1995..can you get me som..." Gone.

    Woke up, went home.

Genuinely - it was first performed in 1913 - but is a 'new' procedure as a result of keyholeage.

Not great, I admit, but beatable.

I see references to people thinking they're "OCD" all the time and I don't get involved - s'not worth it - but it's a very real thing.

I like to think the variant I had was due to my incredible intelligence, but the truth is, it was the opposite. Too much responsibilty, pressure and stress for what is, ostensibly, a simple Devon Dumpling.

That makes sense. About 6 months ago I first heard about it and there were only 2 research hospitals in the US doing the new version. From what I've read about it, it wasn't common prior to the keyhole because it is sort of fiddly and delicate. That's what makes it perfect for keyhole.

The person I was seeing for it was 3 months down the road without any problems at all.

I've stuck masking tape on my screen over the words "fiddly" and "delicate" - we're all good.

I probably wouldn't pursue a career in therapy if I were you, Gaz.
