When I started in the NFT trays I had a air stone in the res. It did exactly the same by raising the ph. Never the ec though.
No light leaks and no roots in the water either.
    Why is that bluey?

Air it self has a ph reading, with the air pump you are pushing/diluting that air into the water which over time will change ya ph especially if ya pumping loads of air through the water

I did the test . The stones are alkaline in nature . I put my rubber airtube rings in and voila no more rapid fluctuations .

Why? Once I took it out the ph floated from the 5.5 I set it at to 6.2 over the week then it was ready for a rez change.

I think you should try having another rez and leave a air stone in overnight before doing anything. and then pH should be more stable.
