Hi mate, random question but have you ever tried any different light schedules for flowering other than the standard 12/12?
In an old diary, I think it was buds, he used 13 hours of light. Working with the theory that an extra hour a day would give his plants an extra 60+ hours of light over the course of the flowering period, which seems like a good thing.
He got banging results, he always does but I’ve not heard of any others trying it. I figured there must be a reason?

I also read on here recently that there was a new trend for moving down to 11 hours of light, although I’m not sure why or how it would help. I can’t find the original comment.
Have you ever tried anything like this? What are your thoughts?

Hi mate, welcome to my Q&A. Personally I've never tried either lengthening or shortening light times during flower.

There is another schedule and I can't remember the name of it, gas light hours or something like that. A load of members were doing here a few years back and loved it.

It was something like 6 hours on 2 hours off during veg. Followed by 2 weeks of 12/12 then going to 12 hours on 10 hours off. I think lol

Any body know what I'm talking about? 😂

Gas lamp routine is used just during the veg period. Dexter was a big fan and thought when flipped they turned and flowered faster. The idea is to use less light and break the dark cycle with 1.5 hours minimum. It works. Reducing flowering period from 12 to ten hours is mimicking nature coming into autumn and generally is done gradually. Supposed to bring on more thrics and also letting the temps drop slowly down a few degrees 😃

I originally used the GLR on my Blueberry & Strawberry haze...Blueberry went into early flower and I didn't notice for over a week so another 2 weeks of reveg...

SH was fine with it...seems not to work with all strains...blew my head away trying to set the digi timer
