MH light bulb

Hi talkers

Can anyone recommend a decent MH bulb for my digital ballast. It a switchable up to 600w. The last one blew in a month!

Exact same bulbs as Ironman here...600 & a 400w, been using them since March/April this year, so far done 4 grows I think...

how did you blow a mh in 4 weeks?
your not dimming it are you?

they should last at least 10,000hrs with only a 10% drop it lumen output
my 600w sunmaster must be 2 years old

i only use it for 240hrs per grow so should last another few years

Shouldn't dim HPS bulbs to be honest but deffo not MH

dimming any bulb shortens there life as you found out, it also means they don't output the correct spectrum either
the dimming switch is so you can use multiple bulbs with the ballast

No . I was told by GE and Philips engineers not to dim any bulbs .
They even showed me charts how the spectrum and intensity just goes full out of whack .

For example a 600w hps dimmed to 400w .pumps out less then 300w !!! . Its hard in the bulbs too . A total energy waste .
