    Default Cow shit

BB (I hope I've spelt your new name correctly?)

As a lad living in deepest Devon many years ago, I lived next door to an old Cockney bloke who used to grow everything in his greenhouse using cow manure...I've never seen anything like it since.

He had a pit where he'd scrape everything organic from his plate and then add the cow manure to that. It was where I'd dig up my worms for fishing and all that.

Anyroad up, what's the story with using manure to grow weed? I appreciate it's farking hot (literally, that is: the pit used to steam and was hot to the touch a few inches down) but is manure a decent additive in small measures?

Never seen anyone mention so it's probably useless, but thought you'd know?

But then you look at roses...raw manure on them. They love it.

Wonder if it just lost favour among indoor growers due to the smell?

Too true, a mate of mine took what was basically just a root mass of a rose bush from my garden. Left it a few weeks in soil and it did nothing, scraped some horse manure from the road and put it in the pot, new shoots were through within a week, good stuff!

Maybe so, shovelling shit cant be the most pleasant of things 😂 wonder if canna is more sensitive that other plants?

I quite like the earthy tones that compost brings. Not not keen on bat or cow shit though. Chicken I couldn't really tell.

You mix it in with this Florida sand, and I thank that might help. Because I've never had a problem with the fresh stuff, matter of fact, after one grow, you just turn the shit over and replant, and as good as the first time. lol

When I was a young I always remembered my granddad collecting the piles of horse manure from the street where he lived for his veg garden. He'd put it everywhere and make a horse crap water tank that he would use to water his plants which he always had great success with (a bit of local legend type). Being very young and potentially retarded, I thought any old crap would do so went around my ends collecting dog shit. I put it all over my mums plants, everywhere over her entire gardens flower beds etc. She wasn't happy at all, many plants died in a pretty short period of time, the garden stank.... I played out at my mates house for quite a while after that... hahaa bad times haha...
