Most will say blue lab as they pretty bulletproof I use the HM ph pen a little cheaper than the blue lab but not by much ...just avoid them yellow ?5 jobbies, they are good as long as you don't want to know your ph lol

For soil i have a Dr.meter fot just a quick reference . They can vary by .5 or so . Not very very accurste .

The best is a soil test kit . Avail at most gsrden centers and Ag centers .feed mills etc

Well . You want your soil ph to be between 6-7 eh 6.3-6.5 being gold . Thats where 90% of the plants thrive in . Expet for certain things like fruits . They prefer more acidic soils . Blueberries for example thrive in 4.5-5 soils .

Its very complex and no one will come up witht he same answer . But it has to do with the entire soil microbiology where most bacteria and fungii thrive ,biochemistry etc etc

I read something other day stating we know more about Mars or the Universe then our own soil and we dont know much about that tbh ..... about sums it up eh .

My problem with these is that if you leave them in the soil I imagine the metal would rust interfering with the read. Instructions say to clean after each use. Stabbing the soil and breaking the roots bothers me. I have also been told by many that they are not accurate. I do own a couple. On my current grow I tried it and it showed high PH. I did a proper soil test and also found high PH. So maybe they are okay for getting a general read in soil but it does require jamming it into the root packed soil.
