    Default PH when watering

Evening all, hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

    Here's the rambling question......

I measured the ph using a pen of tap water that had sat in a bucket for 24hrs, it was 7.2.

I added pm old timers grow to a litre of water and this reduced ph to 4.6 - does this not seem like a big adjustment?

PH isn't something I ever thought about until the last few weeks when I was having magnesium def.

    So the questions are,

    1. Do you add ph up or down to get ph to desired range before watering/feeding in soil? Or would you pour in something as acidic as 4.6?
    2. What nutes do you use and how does it affect ph?
    3. If I give 1 litre of water at 7.2 the run off measures at 6.7, what does this mean for the ph of the soil?

Looking forward to your responses! Cheers fellas

Cheers for chipping in! Have you ever checked your ph of your feed? Would you be concerned about 4.6 going into your pot?

My tap water is 7.8 PH with an EC of 0.5 - I know this as I grow in coco.

When I add my feed, my PH hardly alters....

I've got a bag of coco in the garage, think I may need to do a run on coco at the same time as soil see what my ability is.

Wonder if perhaps my nutes are approaching the end of their useful life and that's why ph drops so much.

    my feed/water is 6.8
comes out at 7ph in organic soil

how much water/feed/strength and how often also effects things greatly
in coco i was forever adjusting down every 3-4 days lowered it to 5.6 then let it drift up

    1) up/down doesn't matter just get the water within range
    2) i use 1/4 strength nutes but often vs heavyfeeding/none method
    3) soil buffered to 6.7 'within range'

Hmm would you mind doing a measurement of 1ml grow into water and measure the ph next time your feeding? My old timers is probably about almost a year old and in think that's what caused some lock out problems this time round.

Would there be any benefit adding coffee grounds for example to lower or Epsom salts or baking soda to raise ph into range?

Or does the rule still apply lol
