Default Going off the idea of Blue for veg Red for flower

I know it is the norm (and maybe now somewhat dated) but in my mind things are changing ie: blue spectrum for veg red for flower.

I do like to mess around with light spectrum and recently installed a CDM daylight for veg/seedlings/clones. To be truthful can't say I am impressed, growth is just to slow and the light looks a bit harsh.

My next plan is to put the Daylight (blue) CDM (Horizon reflector) in with HPS as a supplement lighting during flower. I will replace the Daylight lamp with an Agro bulb still in an Horizon reflector for veg hopefully this will give a fuller spectrum and more growth without to much stretch ie: plants looking for light (or a fuller spectrum of light).

    Any thoughts or input appreciated.

TO GROW A PLANT YOU NEED TO THINK LIKE A PLANT

Ive read recently that high blue ratios can increase resin at the cost of yield. A good trade for processing I suppose. I dunno how well you would be able to control those ratios without using something like LEDs to select specific light bands instead of broader K ranges.

I dont remember the article's location but as I recall they had a %15 blue range for optimal growth with resin increasing up to a %45 range before plateauing without increasing CO2.

you can and lots do grow from start to finish using a duel spectrum the best of both spectrums combined but it lacks any UV
blue mH has a slight uv output, but 10k bulbs go full uv 'always wear uv glasses in the gRoom'

as has been said, more uv = more resin

for me it's about potency first not maximizing yield so i go mH/Duel/10k uv bulb,
but that's just what i prefer, i understand lots use cooltubes that remove 10% light output due to a piece of glass and can't swap bulbs easily unfortunately

I’ve been trialing this for few grows now and I think all hps is better, plants directly under the cdm would always mature quicker than the hps but buds weren’t as big
