Up here we changed the laws on carrying in 2016 , maximum prison term of 5 years. This was 8 years after the start of an anti knife campaign ( mostly due to the amount of knifings in Glasgow and surrounding towns)


In the first year there were 971 recorded offences of carrying a knife with no reason to do so .

How many of that figure got the maximum ?

It doesn’t matter if they change the law (sentencing) its the enforcement of the law that’s the issue also with judges not being harsh enough and decent defence briefs doing there job.

The jails are full as well , the influx of people as MC has rightly stated (that they also bring their culture with them as well ) has a negative impact on communities. Certainly in communities where there is already poverty etc.

But knife crime has reduced up here overall since the increase in jail time which is no bad thing. (The information is out there to back this up)

The Met and English forces have been looking at the model and success from the past 10 years from up here as well.



There is no quick fix imo for the London situation.

The solution is to tackle the broken legislation, to bring it in line with the current real world landscape.

You cannot enforce the law by breaking the law.

You cannot detect all crime but you can deter a lot of it.

I'm happy to hear what you think may deter black youths, usually born in other countries and with different cultural attitudes, from stabbing each other, because it is getting worse.

I’d love to get involved In this thread but it all winds me up to much. Should let the police do their job if they stop more aspiring rappers and wanna be gangsters then so be it , it’s Cos I imagine their statistically more likely to be carrying a weapon. I live in London , I grew up being stopped and searched I learnt how to clench my weed but none of us were every carrying a game of thrones style knife ready to kill over a postcode. Let em kill each other as long as they keep it up the park like the good old days

Ya search 1000 peeps and remove one knife off the streets is a good enough reason for stop and search. I hope none of you ever have to deal with death as someone close to is running through your fingers because they have been stabbed. That warm wet feeling is not nice. Listening to them last breaths is the worst thing ever. Bring boxing back into school give the police and the judges more power and we need a good youth scheme and clubs with decent ( no peados ) people who can be mentors to some of these troubled kids. If a couple of houses in your neighbourhood had been robbed and a couple of grannies raped because they was in while being robbed and it turned out it was a white transit van reported in the area and outside the house would you not want the police in that area stopping white transit vans .

I've got to admit that besides Hotshot, I am surprised that no one else here has so far shown interest in the Stop and Search aspect of the case.

It'll only escalate, just give it time.

Another Occupy thing or another bunch of riots, that's when it will be expected and the masses would be grateful for the "safety measures".
