If you hang with criminals then you are fair game.

You are guilty of their crimes by Enterprise even if you just watched.

Left alone, these are the people the police would harass but instead we tie their hands behind their backs. I sometimes wonder if people want these matters dealt with or not

    Couldn't agree more

10 years if caught with a knife. Make that the offence, job done.

Then we don't need to abuse the innocent

There's an entire different world between the US and UK in crime statistics. I can't even begin to participate in this discussion. Summer in Chicago, averaging dozens of shootings and 10-20 deaths per weekend.

Still I wouldn't be happy with a stop and search law.

It is the innocent that the violent section of society is already abusing How many people in London are now too scared to walk to or from a friends house after dark, use a cash point, complain when the kids throw their rubbish on the floor, spit or use foul language.

And I despair when the police can not have the tools they need to do the job because others want to flout the law by wandering around with cannabis in their pockets & they vocally deny the Police the ability to do their job

You guys have far better civil / amendment rights than us BUT have too many guns in circulation unfortunately. I would carry a weapon no doubt if everyone else was. The law and rifle association promotes that

But by searching people for the sake of it/because he's black/ because I'm tired/because plod doesn't like you, you are abusing people's human rights. This is not a tool the Police should ever have, full stop. It's actually an assault under common law.

Eventually we will be saying search everyone before they leave their houses, just in case they might become criminal today. Criminal until proven innocent

Minority report comes to mind also

I'm pretty sure that being stabbed is also against your human rights and is a damn sight more than common assault - but that seems to be OK as no one wants to tackle the issue

Just admit it, you have no idea on how to tackle this bar making sure that existing legislation isn't used

The solution is to tackle the broken legislation, to bring it in line with the current real world landscape.

You cannot enforce the law by breaking the law.

You cannot detect all crime but you can deter a lot of it.

Up here we changed the laws on carrying in 2016 , maximum prison term of 5 years. This was 8 years after the start of an anti knife campaign ( mostly due to the amount of knifings in Glasgow and surrounding towns)

In the first year there were 971 recorded offences of carrying a knife with no reason to do so .

How many of that figure got the maximum ?

    1 , yes that’s it.

It doesn’t matter if they change the law (sentencing) its the enforcement of the law that’s the issue also with judges not being harsh enough and decent defence briefs doing there job.

The jails are full as well , the influx of people as MC has rightly stated (that they also bring their culture with them as well ) can have a negative impact on communities. Certainly in communities where there is already poverty etc.

But knife crime has reduced up here overall since the increase in jail time which is no bad thing. (The information is out there to back this up)

The Met and English forces have been looking at the model and success from the past 10 years from up here as well.

There is no quick fix imo for the London situation.

Thank fuck I stay where I do lol

    As you were
