I meant planting the seed directly in the soil (raised bed or your choice) without starting them indoors then transplanting.

I'll be going from seedling tray, to pot and then to a truck or tractor tire to keep the soil moist without making my live too complicated, I think they have a volume of around 300 liter or so.

Oh i. See no I will. Start. Inside in a pot and then transplant to the bed. The weather isnt really cold so Im gonna try and plant a cover crop on the bed and just hope the frost don't kill it, its alfalfa, comfrey and crimson clover so it might survive lol.

Hopefully its a sterile cutting of comfrey or you'll be stuck with it forever based on what I've heard. The roots go twice as deep as a fruit tree.

Sterile means they don't produce viable seed, the roots themselves are just as impossible to get rid off

p.s. there are worse things to be stuck with
p.p.s. I have learned the comfrey being impossible to get rid off the hard way and won't be planting it in any raised beds ever again

Mine is starting inside. I'm going to pop that sucker up front, then put the pumpkin on some hay on my front porch. Be ready for Halloween that way.
