Default When does an autoflower start flower?

People like to speak about autoflowering veg time in terms of days & weeks rather than the plants development.

Whilst there are a few strains that won't fit the following, it is a good rule of thumb for around 90+% of autos.

Autos tend to start flowering as the 4th (true) node is forming (best to top just before that point!), not at x amount of days... plants can't count days but they know where they are with regards to their development

    Big help this M_C!

My main worries were around what the plants doing at what time. Feel like running a few photo grows first will help identify whats happening then it can be gauged with the autos

Totally different beasts mate, you can't treat an auto in veg the same as a photoperiod in veg as it will severely reduce your harvest

For someone brand new to autos would you recommend topping or LST? Also, what are your thoughts about people saying that topping can slow down/stunt an auto?

If it is your first run with autos then don't top her, would be my advice. I find too many learners want to jump straight in at advanced growing

Topping can slow down/stunt autos - know what you are doing before employing this technique
